OLIVER FINK
B: 1972
LEEDS, ENGLAND
I'm a British born painter working from my home studio.
I studied art at Jacob Kramer college of art in the early 90's and spent years working as a graphic designer. Later I ran my own gallery and studio, showing work, selling both through galleries and privately.
Over the last couple of years my painting has changed significantly. A cancer diagnosis and recovery stripped things back and shifted how i work, what i focus on, and what I'm willing to leave unresolved. I moved from acrylics to oil paint, allowing the work to slow down, become more physical, more direct, and psychological. From the mind, heart and trauma it left behind.
These paintings are illustrative and a narrative. They are a way of working through presence, distortion, and the human figure, sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes darkly playful.
